Domaine de la Janasse Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vieilles Vignes is the estate’s flagship and most celebrated red wine, produced by Domaine de la Janasse from some of the oldest Grenache vines in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. First released in 1990, this cuvée has become one of the benchmark wines of the Southern Rhône and is consistently ranked among the region’s elite bottlings.

The wine is sourced primarily from centenarian Grenache vines, many planted between 1912 and 1914, rooted in the appellation’s famous galets roulés, sandy soils, and clay-limestone terroirs. Produced only in limited quantities, Vieilles Vignes represents the most concentrated, age-worthy, and complex expression of the Janasse estate.

Tasting Notes

COLOR:
Deep opaque ruby-purple with remarkable concentration.

NOSE:
Black cherry, blackberry liqueur, cassis, kirsch, licorice, lavender, garrigue, graphite, smoked meat, and exotic spices.

TASTE:
Full-bodied and richly layered, delivering intense black and red fruits, plum compote, dark chocolate, espresso, Provençal herbs, and mineral nuances wrapped in velvety tannins

FINISH:
Exceptionally long, powerful, and complex with notes of spice, tobacco, earth, and ripe fruit that persist for minutes.
