Description

Les Prémices (“the beginnings”) is the entry cuvée from the highly regarded grower-producer Egly-Ouriet, based in Ambonnay. Unlike the estate’s more powerful Grand Cru bottlings, this Champagne comes from the cooler terroir of Trigny in the Massif de Saint-Thierry, offering a more delicate and accessible expression of the house style.

Despite being an “entry” wine, it is made with serious craftsmanship: old vines, low intervention winemaking, long lees aging, and extremely low dosage. The result is a Champagne that combines purity, tension, and subtle complexity rather than overt richness.

Tasting Notes

NOSE:
White flowers, citrus zest (lemon, grapefruit), green apple, pear skin, and chalky minerality. Subtle brioche, toasted grain, and light nutty notes with air

TASTE:
Crisp and focused with bright acidity. Flavors of orchard fruit, citrus oil, and underripe stone fruit are framed by fine bubbles and a saline, chalk-driven backbone

FINISH:
Dry, long, and mineral with lingering citrus peel and a faint toasted almond nuance
