Description

Henri Magnien Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes is a premium village-level Burgundy crafted from old-vine Pinot Noir grown in some of the finest parcels of Gevrey-Chambertin. Produced by Domaine Henri Magnien, this cuvée is sourced from eight vineyard plots with vines ranging from approximately 40 to over 100 years old, including parcels planted as early as 1915. The old vines contribute exceptional concentration, complexity, and depth while preserving the elegance and terroir expression that define great Gevrey-Chambertin. The wine is aged in French oak barrels for around 12 months and bottled without fining or filtration.

Tasting Notes

COLOR:
Brilliant deep ruby-red with youthful garnet highlights and impressive concentration.

NOSE:
Complex and expressive, offering aromas of black cherry, raspberry, plum, red berries, peony, violet, orange peel, and candied citrus. Secondary notes of spice, iron, forest floor, and subtle floral nuances add depth and classic Gevrey-Chambertin character.

TASTE:
Medium- to full-bodied with a velvety texture and remarkable concentration. Layers of dark cherry, blackberry, raspberry, and red currant are supported by supple tannins, lively acidity, and a mineral backbone. The old-vine fruit provides richness and structure while maintaining freshness and balance.

FINISH:
Long, elegant, and saline, with lingering notes of dark berries, spice, floral accents, and mineral complexity.
