Jean-Pierre Grossot Chablis 1er Cru Vaucoupin is a distinguished French white wine from Burgundy, produced by the family-run Domaine Grossot in Fleys, Chablis. The estate farms approximately 18 hectares organically and produces five Chablis Premier Cru wines, with Vaucoupin being one of its key terroir expressions.

Made from 100% Chardonnay, Vaucoupin comes from Kimmeridgian soils rich in clay and limestone. The site gives the wine greater depth and concentration than village Chablis while retaining the characteristic freshness, salinity, and mineral precision of the appellation. The domaine uses relatively non-interventionist winemaking, indigenous yeasts, and extended ageing on fine lees before bottling.

Tasting Notes

COLOR:
Pale golden yellow with bright silver-green reflections.

NOSE:
Elegant aromas of lemon zest, white peach, green apple, citrus blossom, and white flowers, complemented by nuances of chalk, wet stone, oyster shell, and a subtle buttery character.

TASTE:
Medium to full-bodied, focused, and beautifully textured. Ripe citrus and white fruit are supported by vibrant acidity, while the Kimmeridgian terroir contributes pronounced chalky, saline, and stony minerality. A subtle yeasty richness adds further depth without compromising freshness.

FINISH:
Long, precise, and refreshing, with lingering lemon, mineral, saline, and lightly bitter citrus notes.
