Pedro Parra y Familia Newk is one of the most compelling expressions of Chile’s historic País grape, crafted by renowned terroir specialist Pedro Parra in the Itata Valley. Part of the estate’s acclaimed "Jazz Series" of cru wines, Newk is named after legendary saxophonist Sonny Rollins, whose nickname was "Newk."

Sourced from exceptionally old, dry-farmed País vines growing on decomposed granite soils in Guarilihue, this wine demonstrates the remarkable finesse, purity, and mineral complexity that País can achieve when cultivated in exceptional terroirs. Pedro Parra’s minimalist approach—utilizing native yeast fermentation, whole-cluster vinification, and restrained cellar intervention—allows the vineyard’s character to shine through with clarity and precision.

Unlike the rustic País wines of the past, Newk is refined, aromatic, and terroir-driven, often drawing comparisons to fine Cru Beaujolais or elegant cool-climate Pinot Noir in its texture and energy.
