Description

Roagna Solea Bianco Langhe is one of Piedmont’s most distinctive white wines, produced by the renowned Roagna family. Crafted from approximately 80% Chardonnay and 20% Nebbiolo vinified as a white wine (blanc de noirs), Solea combines the texture and richness of Chardonnay with the acidity, tension, and structure contributed by Nebbiolo. Fermented with indigenous yeasts in wooden vats and aged for around 24 months in neutral oak casks, the wine reflects Roagna’s traditional, low-intervention philosophy and exceptional vineyard sites in the Langhe.

Often produced in very limited quantities, Solea is regarded as one of Italy’s most intriguing and age-worthy white wines, capable of developing remarkable complexity over a decade or more.

Tasting Notes

COLOR:
Pale gold with green reflections and brilliant clarity.

NOSE:
Complex and layered aromas of lemon peel, chalk, white flowers, mint, pear, quince, fennel pollen, dried herbs, and subtle tropical fruit notes. With age, nuances of almond, honey, and pastry emerge.

TASTE:
Elegant yet structured, showing flavors of yellow apple, pear, citrus zest, peach, orchard fruits, white almond, and mineral-driven salinity. The texture is rich and silky without heaviness, supported by vibrant acidity and remarkable precision.

FINISH:
Long, chalky, and saline, with lingering notes of citrus, herbs, and crushed stone.
