Description

Roberto Voerzio Barbera d'Asti Superiore is a powerful and meticulously crafted expression of Barbera from the hills of Asti in Piedmont, Italy. Known worldwide for his iconic Barolo wines, Roberto Voerzio applies the same philosophy of extremely low yields, intensive vineyard management, and uncompromising quality standards to this limited-production Barbera. The grapes are sourced from mature vineyards near Canelli and Nizza Monferrato, where clay-limestone soils contribute depth, freshness, and mineral complexity. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel using indigenous yeasts, followed by approximately 12 months of aging in predominantly used French oak barriques. Only around 2,000 bottles are produced per vintage.

The result is a concentrated yet vibrant Barbera that showcases the variety's hallmark acidity while adding remarkable structure, complexity, and aging potential.

Tasting Notes

COLOR:
Deep ruby red with violet reflections and impressive concentration.

NOSE:
Intense aromas of ripe cherry, plum, raspberry, cranberry, blackberry, and red currant are layered with notes of vanilla, cocoa, sweet spice, licorice, coffee, and subtle oak nuances.

TASTE:
Full-bodied and energetic, with remarkable acidity supporting concentrated flavors of black cherry, plum, blackberry, cranberry, and dark berries. Fine tannins and oak aging add texture and complexity, while mineral undertones provide balance and precision.

FINISH:
Long, vibrant, and persistent, featuring lingering notes of red fruits, spice, vanilla, and mineral freshness.
