Description

Terroir al Límit Les Tosses Priorat is one of Spain's most profound and sought-after red wines, produced by the visionary estate Terroir al Límit in the rugged hills of Priorat, Catalonia. Crafted exclusively from 100% Cariñena (Carignan) sourced from exceptionally old vines planted at high elevations, Les Tosses is a singular expression of Priorat's unique terroir.

The vineyard sits at approximately 600 meters above sea level on the region's famous llicorella (decomposed slate) soils. The high altitude and poor, rocky terrain yield tiny quantities of intensely concentrated grapes, producing a wine of remarkable finesse, energy, and mineral complexity. Winemaker Dominik Huber employs a minimalist, Burgundian-inspired approach, emphasizing whole-cluster fermentation, gentle extraction, and large neutral oak aging to showcase the purity and transparency of the site.

Les Tosses is widely regarded as one of the greatest expressions of old-vine Cariñena in the world and possesses exceptional aging potential, often evolving gracefully for 20 years or more.

Tasting Notes

COLOR:
Deep ruby-garnet with purple reflections and impressive concentration.

NOSE:
Highly aromatic and complex, revealing layers of black cherry, blackberry, wild blueberry, plum, violets, lavender, rosemary, thyme, graphite, crushed slate, licorice, and subtle smoky nuances.

TASTE:
Full-bodied yet remarkably elegant and precise. Flavors of black and red berries, sour cherry, black plum, and pomegranate are interwoven with notes of Mediterranean herbs, spice, iron, and pronounced mineral tension. Fine-grained tannins and vibrant acidity create a wine of immense structure and balance.

FINISH:
Exceptionally long and persistent, with lingering notes of dark fruit, crushed rock, dried flowers, and saline minerality.
