Veyder-Malberg Weitenberg is a finely structured and deeply expressive Austrian white wine from the prestigious Wachau region, crafted by acclaimed winemaker Peter Veyder-Malberg. Sourced from the steep Weitenberg vineyard in Spitz an der Donau, this wine is made from 100% Grüner Veltliner and reflects the estate’s commitment to site transparency, precision, and minimal intervention winemaking.

Weitenberg is one of the higher, cooler vineyard sites in Spitz, defined by primary rock, gneiss, and thin mineral soils. These conditions produce a Grüner Veltliner of striking purity, tension, and aromatic lift. As with all Veyder-Malberg wines, fermentation is spontaneous with indigenous yeasts, and aging is carried out on fine lees to build texture without compromising clarity or energy.

The result is a highly refined Wachau Grüner Veltliner that combines crystalline acidity, subtle power, and a strong sense of place.

Tasting Notes

COLOR:
Bright pale gold with green reflections.

NOSE:
Elegant and lifted aromas of green apple, pear, lime zest, white peach, fresh herbs, white pepper, chamomile, and wet stone, with subtle smoky and floral undertones.

TASTE:
Medium-bodied and precise, showing layers of citrus, orchard fruits, and stone fruit. Classic Grüner Veltliner spice—white pepper, fennel, and herbal notes—adds complexity. The wine is structured by vibrant acidity and a pronounced mineral backbone that gives drive and focus.

FINISH:
Long, linear, and saline, with lingering notes of citrus peel, crushed rock, and delicate spice.
